Van Wycke Trail Closed - TEMPORARILY
A number of residents have alerted the City that the slope along a section of the Van Wycke Trail is rapidly deteriorating. At their regular meeting on October 13, the City Council voted unanimously to authorize the City Manager to proceed working with the City Engineer to develop a plan to stabilze the slope and gently improve the trail. The project is complex due to the underground utilites and drainage pipes that exist within the trail easement.
Due to the hazardous condition of the slope, the City officials determined that the trail must be closed until it is stabilized and safe access is provided. Trail users are advised to use Edwards Street and Galindo Street as a pedestrian detour to and from the harbor. Barricades and signage will be posted until further notice.
