Qualifications and Training
Trinidad's Volunteer Fire Department includes local men and women from their twenties to the sixties. Volunteers must be in reasonably good physical condition and to be willing and able to quickly respond to calls day or night. They must also be first aid and CPR certified. Training for such certification is offered regularly.
Advanced emergency response and fire training is encouraged. Most calls involve medical emergencies and the department conducts regular training sessions in CPR, defibrillation, and first aid. TVFD currently operates and maintains three vehicles, including a rescue van and two class A fire pumpers. Volunteers attend regular drills to practice driving, pump operations, rescue, and fire fighting.
Training is organized and supervised by the Fire Chief and other volunteers who also have professional training and experience. Residents interested in joining the Volunteer Fire Department should contact the City Clerk at 677-0223.
As you strive to build a safer community, please remember you are not alone. The Trinidad Volunteers are only a phone call away. For more information about how to keep your family safe from fire and what you can do in an emergency contact your TVFD.
