Zoning Ordinance
Chapter 17 of the Municipal Code contains the zoning ordinances. These laws spell out the different land use zones in the city, what types of buildings and uses can be put in those zones, and regulations about height, signs, parking, and other design issues.
If you want to build or remodel a house, start a business, or change the use of a property, the zoning ordinance will affect your plans. The City Clerk is the first person to call regarding a building project since he coordinates with Planning Department staff.
