The Trinidad City Council approved a new Animal Control Agreement in its Aug 22, 2023, meeting. The new annual agreement provides the City of Trinidad 24 x 7 emergency response, enforcement of State, County, and City Ordinances, investigation of animal control-related crimes, seizure of animals pursuant to legal authority, and enforcement of City Ordinances relating to animal control.
“After several dog attacks this past year, the City has stepped up efforts to communicate and enforce leash laws and licensing,” said City Manager, Eli Naffah, “We also plan to review City ordinances, with an eye to strengthening them as needed and to align more closely to County regulations.”
In the past, City residents contacted Animal Control through the City Staff or by calling 911. Now, they can contact Animal Control directly for assistance by calling 707-840-9132 or by dialing 911 if in a dangerous situation.
The City of Trinidad will pay $6,746.40 annually for the enhanced animal control services.
