Yurok Housing Draft CEQA IS/MND

 

NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF A DRAFT INITIAL STUDY/MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION AND INTENT TO ADOPT A MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION 

The City of Trinidad Planning Department has prepared a Draft Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (Draft IS/MND) for the Yurok Indian Housing Authority Trinidad Housing Development.   

Project Location: North Westhaven Drive, approximately 1,200 feet south of its intersection with Highway 101; APN 515-151-066.

Project Description: The proposed project consists of the development of five (5) single-story, single-family residences (approximately 1,440 square feet each) with related infrastructure. This infrastructure includes site access, emergency vehicle turnaround, parking, stormwater drainage improvements, onsite wastewater treatment system (OWTS), utilities, and mitigation measures for the conservation and protection of natural resources and sensitive areas in the vicinity. Additionally, the project includes the removal of approximately 424 trees over an area of approximately 25,540 sq. ft. (0.58 acres) to accommodate the residences and improvements.

Review PeriodThe review period for the Draft IS/MND is 30 days.

Public HearingA public hearing is tentatively scheduled for the regularly monthly Trinidad Planning Commission meeting on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at Trinidad Town Hall and via Zoom. The Mitigated Negative Declaration will be considered for adoption. Permits for the project, including a Coastal Development Permit, will also be considered at that public hearing.
